I think a hand motion controlled Triotech Dark Ride would be the coolest idea for a dark ride in the land, although Universal and Triotech have not worked together in the past. I also expect to see some smaller family attractions like those found in Super Silly Fun Land at Universal Studios Hollywood along with a dark ride. When I think of Nintendo, this is what I think of. I expect to see a Mario Kart racing attraction, possibly similar to that of Radiator Springs Racers and Test Track as the headliner attraction. My Take: I am very excited to see what Universal will do with Nintendoland.
I would like to note that this is not confirmed by the park at this time, although I do think it is accurate. The level of immersion and scope of the two lands are supposed to be similar to one another. The land is going to be the Nintendo version of Harry Potter Land according to them. The goal is to attract some of the visitors coming to Tokyo for the Olympics that year. They also say that the park is attempting to get this new land open by 2020. They have included a map in their article as to where the attraction will be located: They are reporting that the land will cost 40 billion yen, or $351 million. It was announced last year that Nintendo and Universal were partnering to bring Nintendo attractions to their parks, and on Saturday, March 5th 2016, we got the first details of this new “Nintendoland.”Īccording to Kotaku, the deal to make the land is being finalized on Friday. Among the ideas for replacements were many things, but it was most expected to be Nintendo Attractions. In the past weeks, it has been a big rumor that Universal Studios Japan would be removing their Back to the Future attraction. This was not expected, but there is room for new development there. It is to the left of the park entrance by the Space Fantasy roller coaster. A Super Nintendo World also is under construction at Universal Studios Hollywood, though that project has not yet been formally announced.UPDATE – Jake of Orlando Park Pass has pointed out that this expansion is not taking place near Back to the Future. In the United States, Super Nintendo World was supposed to be part of the new Epic Universe theme park at Universal Orlando, but the development of that project also has been "paused" indefinitely due to the global travel industry slowdown. Although Universal Studios Japan has reopened to visitors, travel to Japan is severely restricted, and the park has said only that it hopes to open the land sometime before the start of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo next year. Universal has delayed the opening of the first Super Nintendo World land in its Osaka, Japan park due to the pandemic. It is also envisioned that new design changes will be necessary to adapt to the post Covid-19 environment. The timeline of the project will however be impacted due to design changes required by safety management measures and disruption to the construction industry and global supply chain caused by the pandemic. Universal Studios Singapore has begun a phased reopening, however, Genting Singapore is taking another look at the expansion plans it announced last year, which included replacing its Madagascar land with a Despicable Me-themed "Minion Park" and adding Super Nintendo World.Īs Singapore moves carefully towards the recovery phase from the pandemic, we are working closely with the authorities on our $4.5 billion mega expansion plan (“RWS 2.0”) to transform our to be a centre piece of Singapore’s tourism. The loss follows the temporary closure of the resort due to the pandemic. Genting Singapore, which owns the Resorts World Sentosa development that includes the Universal Studios theme park, reported a net loss of S$163.3 million for the second quarter of 2020 - the biggest loss since the resort opened 10 years ago.
